What do I do if someone overdoses?

You put them in the recovery position and call 999 stay with them and ask for the ambulance. Police may attend to make sure there is no risk to ambulance staff. Do not walk the victim around or slap them or put them in a cold bath you are wasting valuable time.

Can I get 2 habits if I use heroin on top of methadone?

No – what you can end up with is a higher tolerance to Opiates – as the combined effect will set the level.

Is cannabis addictive?

Yes – phychologically cannabis is, and often people suffer with poor sleep, mood swings and irritability when it is initially stopped.

Should I worry if I have shared a needle?

Yes – Hepatitis is present in nearly half of all injecting drug users, it is a resilient virus and is able to live outside of the body for a long time, HIV is less prevalent though is still significant amongst I/V drug users. If you are concerned contact the local drug team to get tests.

If I inject crack do I get a better hit?

No – in fact the quickest way to the brain is through the lungs and there is no benefit from injecting it as you are also injecting the bi-carbonate of soda

How do I get help in Doncaster?

If I ask for help who will know?

The drug team and your GP work on the principle that this is totally confidential and will not disclose anything unless you give permission to do so. This includes anyone else & other agencies; if you are on Prescription from the Garage your GP will be aware of your medication only. (Exceptions may be if there is risks to self, others, terrorism or children).
